In the ongoing fight against COVID-19, scientists in South Africa have recently made a startling discovery: they can just start making up letters now. “At first we tried using real letters like ‘alpha’ and ‘delta’ to name the new variants,” reported leading researcher Arthur Jacobs, “but we soon realized we were going to run out of them. After months of dedicated research, we stumbled upon the breakthrough that we can just start making the letters up. That’s how the Omicron variant got its name, I just used a Ouija board to spell something out.”

Scientists have asked the public to adhere to strict guidelines in preparation for the Doof, Ligma, Peepee, and Fardyface variants.
