Shang-Chi Has 10 Rings While the Detroit Lions Have None

Adding some MSG to the MCU

Shang-Chi opens this weekend, bringing an Asian-American superhero to cinema. That’s right, the Bao Panther will be adding some MSG to the MCU. This is groundbreaking, since so far, the only Asian superheroes in Marvel movies have been Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Wong (Benedict Wong), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), and The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton). Shang-Chi is expected to be a fan favorite of Asian American audiences. Currently the most popular hero amongst Asian parents is Dr. Strange since he’s a doctor. Expect movie theaters to be filled with Supreme bags filled with snacks that were snuck in.

While Shang Chi will be seeking control of the 10 rings, The Detroit Lions are still trying to win their first. The only thing less realistic than a comic book movie with mythical dragons and superpowers is the Lions winning a Super Bowl. You’d think that half of the team was snapped away by Thanos, but they are in fact sporting a full roster. Shang Chi is expected to dominate the box office the way that Aaron Rodgers has dominated Detroit for the past 12 years.

Shang Chi includes an all-star cast with Simu Liu, Michelle Yeoh, and Awkwafina…because of course Awkwafina is in it. She’s in every Asian movie. Catch Shang-Chi this weekend in theaters, on Disney +, or on some bootleg website that’ll fill your computer with trojans.
