The highly anticipated latest season of Euphoria has been gripping its viewers as HBO just released season 2. While fans are excited to re-enter the universe of Euphoria, some Asian Americans have thoughts on the lack of representation.

“I mean, it’s not that media representation means that we’ll be treated equally, but… Asians like to get fucked up too. I don’t know why no one believes that,” says 18 year-old, recent high school graduate Jeremy Liang.

“We drink lime Burnett’s too,” Liang confessed.

Most Asians Americans agree that the lack of representation is a bit disappointing given the recent wave of Asian representation in movies and TV shows, but among those Asian Americans most disappointed are those who frequent EDM raves.

“We’ve been partying and getting fucked up at Bassnectar and Zedd shows for years,” asserted Kevin Nguyen. “We were sneaking into 21+ shows since we were 15. I did ecstasy for the first time on my 16th birthday. These Euphoria kids are late to the game,” Nguyen disclosed.

When asked about the lack of realistic representation, HBO Executives immediately apologized for overlooking the issue.

“We understand that this is not realistic to the demographics that some of our viewers are used to, and we promise in the next season to feature Minari star Alan Kim. We also want to apologize to the growing Asian American population in Southern California. We know that Euphoria takes place in a fictional town, but it cannot be denied that Asian Americans are a large demographic of Los Angeles where the show was shot. And for that, we also apologize,” reiterated VP of Casting Hank Simmons.

While season 3 shooting commences in late 2022, casting directors have already set out to find the latest and greatest in Asian American talent by collaborating with K-pop labels BigHit and JYP.
