Nellie Cochran was an avid listener of some of the most prolific true crime podcasts like My Favorite Murder and Crime Junkie. These podcasts and among many others often dive deep into the morbid details of these investigations and will review piece by piece all parts that the police uncovered. While Nellie understood that her obsession was likely problematic as she felt as though she was making these crimes more about the killers than the victims, she realized she had to quit this addiction.
“I can’t keep listening to true crime and telling myself that I’m an advocate for the victims. I know that I just have this weird emotional connection for the murderer. So, I think it’s best for me to become a police officer so that I can make all of the crimes about myself. My glory… my pride. My story. This is afterall the best way that people can get involved to solve crimes!”
