As the air of November falls upon the country, a slew of holiday madness approaches the horizon.Thanksgiving is usually the first phase of the commercial chaos that saturates this time of the year. Then along comes Black Friday, Christmas, New Year’s, and Valentine’s Day. All of which are great reasons to shop.

It turns out that November’s second most famous holiday, Veterans Day, has become the latest conduit for capitalism. More and more, companies are using images of military members and their families in advertising, exploiting patriotism for profit. After all, there is no better way to pay tribute to those that have given their lives than by buying a new mattress.

One woman asks, “I’m a member of the BTS ARMY, do I qualify for the 10% discount at Panera Bread?” Angela Tran, longtime BTS fan explained, “If corporations are able to exploit veterans to fatten their wallets, can I exploit those companies for some sweet deals? I can only J-Hope so.” Tran will be joining millions who are celebrating America by buying clothes and electronics made in other countries. She’s hoping to find prices that are as cut as Jimin’s abs.

Her strategy thus far hasn’t been smooth like butter, as she hasn’t had much success. Turns out that being associated with BTS doesn’t make everything better. Just ask Coldplay. Tran was, however, offered menu items at Chili’s, which serves free meals to veterans unless they are Black. She politely declined stating that Chili’s “tastes like ass.”
