DALLAS 一 Overconfident friend now believes they are an expert on Korean street food, after staying up well past their bedtime watching YouTube videos.

“I went to eat Korean BBQ with some friends and I realized how simple this cooking shit is. I could easily do this, so I searched up some Korean food tutorials online and found these street food videos,” said Lucas Forster. “At first, I thought it was incredibly stupid and nearly clicked off. But I just became captivated by the almost zen-like efficiency of this guy making a giant 60-egg rolled omelette,” said a delighted Forster. “One video led to another and so on and before I knew it, it was morning! In one night, I watched more hours of random Koreans making pizza waffles and sausage egg cheese bread than I have spent doing my homework this semester.

Not everyone is delighted though, as Forster’s girlfriend is upset and concerned that these videos are doing more harm than good.

“Lucas thinks he’s some kind of cultural ambassador for South Korea after watching those videos. He’s never expressed any interest in my culture before, so I find it a bit insulting that some guy making tteok-bokki in Seoul won him over when I couldn’t,” expressed a dissatisfied Jenny Jung. “Now, he’s dead set on meeting my parents and booking a vacation with them to visit South Korea. This just makes my life more complicated, because now I have to explain to my parents that I have a boyfriend, who, as far as I know, loves kimchi more than me now.”

The South Korean Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Hwang Hee is extremely supportive of the online videos.

“We have seen a recent upward trend in tourism in South Korea that coincides with the release of each new street food video. Many Americans see these combinations of meat, eggs, and cheese and they go buck wild! I guess America never figured out how to perfect cheap and unhealthy food that is readily accessible within minutes,” said an excited Mr. Hwang. “At this point, these street food videos may outshine Kpop stars and become the new thing our country is known for!”

At press time, Forster was found purchasing every cabbage within a 20 mile radius in order to recreate a singular dish from the videos.
