Asian and Indian men statistically perform terribly on online dating services, particularly in certain states. But one man is beating the odds.

In unprecedented fashion, Sunil Choudhry, 23, has matched on Tinder with Sarah Wilson, The Lunar Times has learned. The news, pending verification from the Associated Press, would cement Sunil’s place in history as the first Indian man to ever match with a white woman on Tinder.

The shocking turn of events has given hope to thousands of lonely Indian and other Asian American men living in the Deep South. “I speak five languages, hold a Master’s degree from an Ivy League school and have won two regional bodybuilding competitions,” said Akshay Singh, an Oklahoma resident. “But this makes me optimistic that I can finally go on a date.” Meanwhile, some locals are calling this historic breakthrough ‘proof there ain’t no such thang [sic] as racism anymore.’

The Lunar Times had the opportunity to speak with Choudhry for an exclusive interview after his seemingly impossible feat.

TLT: First of all, we’d like to say congratulations, Sunil, for becoming the first ever Indian man to match with a white woman on Tinder.

SC: Thanks, I really appreciate that. But it actually wasn’t that hard. After extensive research, I realized I needed to upload some photos of me standing in a boat, holding a fish, and shotgunning a Bud Light.

TLT: Really, that’s all it took?

SC: Well that definitely helped, so I also started exclusively wearing pastel-colored Vineyard Vines shirts with Chubbies shorts and boat shoes. And then just for good measure, I dyed my hair, bleached my skin, and changed the name on my Tinder profile to “Lyle McMann.”

TLT: Brilliant. So what made you decide to swipe right on Sarah?

SC: Well, for the longest time I’ve been really enamored with Southern belles, and when I saw that Sarah took her nursing school graduation photos in front of a statue of a Confederate general… I knew she was just my type.

TLT: Living in Alabama, are you worried her political views might interfere with a potential relationship?

SC: No, not at all. Her bio said that she “doesn’t really pay attention to politics” and that she’s “sick of people being judged by who they voted for,” so I’m sure she’s a very open-minded, tolerant, and empathetic person. I mean, she’s a nurse, right?

TLT: Let us know how that turns out. Have you actually messaged Sarah? Got any plans for the big date?

SC: Well, I started messaging her a few hours ago. She told me that she was “classy not trashy” but then she suggested we get drunk at Applebee’s.

TLT: There’s something to be said about a woman who knows what she likes.

SC: Yeah, but I don’t think we’re going to be going on a date at all, so it doesn’t really matter.

TLT: Why not?

SC: After a few messages, I found out that she actually mistook me for one of my fraternity brothers in my Tinder pictures — Kyle. But he’s got a huge truck, used to play baseball, and is an investment banker, so… I get it. They’re going out tomorrow night.

TLT: We’re very sorry to hear that. Do you have any words of wisdom for any Indian-American guys out there facing the same struggles as you?

SC: Yeah, I would say… don’t chase white women just because you’re trying to rebel against your parents. If you’re gonna chase white women, do it because you really love watching Grey’s Anatomy for hours on end.
