This year, instead of buying a dozen roses or booking a fancy dinner reservation, Kevin Pilmer decided to surprise his girlfriend by transforming into the perfect K-Drama love interest for 24 hours.

“She’s been bugging me to do something big this year, and I figured this would be it,” said Pilmer after his third round of an emulsifying facial that would turn his face into a smooth unblemished ceramic sea of skin.  “How hard could it be?”

The evening’s itinerary promised a night full of unspoken misunderstandings blossoming into a deeply all-encompassing love that is eventually consummated with one or two chaste closed mouth kisses in slow motion under freshly fallen snow.

As she eagerly paced in her bedroom, Gloria Hyeung cradled her Cha Eun-Woo imprinted pillow closer to her chest. “I can’t wait!” She squealed as she stared at her Nam Joo-Hyuk life-size cut out.  “My whole life, I’ve just wanted someone to stare longingly at me from across the room without touching.”

When Pilmer arrived in a loose-fitting jacket and turtleneck sweater, Hyeung raced towards the front door only to be stopped by her father, Lee Min Hyeung.

“Where do you think you’re going? Dressed like that?” Lee Min roared at his only daughter.  “You think I’m letting you leave this house?  Absolutely not! I control everything you see, eat, and do, because I love you deeply and do not trust your judgement at all.”

Instead, Hyeung retreated to her room and waved sadly at Pilmer from her window.  For his part, Pilmer threw himself behind a nearby tree and sobbed dramatically with abandon.

“This is exactly the Valentine’s Day I always wanted.”  Hyeung sighed happily as her father chased Pilmer off the lawn while wielding a dried bamboo stick.
