DEERFIELD, MASS. – The Yankee Candle company just announced The Ethnic Home Collection heralding in a new sense of comfort to your home. Yankee Candle ensures that your guests will be left thinking “that smells…authentic” and “it overpowers my nostrils!”
The newly formulated scents were created through trial and error after realizing that Yankee Candle had been missing the most lucrative fragrance family. “We have had the joy of bringing the aromas of bliss to homes for years but we realized that we were missing one of the most familiar fragrances!” said Kaylee Roberts, VP of Scent Curation. “Every child of immigrant families understands the fear and shame of having a unique scent bound to their clothes that will never come out. Now, Caucasian families can enjoy that same fear and shame!”
Some of the new scents in the Ethnic Home Collection include Stained Tupperware: The invigorating mix of hating your nose and your uncle asking your dad for money, with base notes of coriander, onions, and curry powder. The popular seasonal choice is Come Home It’s Late: the spicy aroma of three missed calls from your mother, base notes of coconut oil and disputes in the motherland.
“I recommend Overweight Baggage,” said Roberts. “It has the crisp essence of being at the airport at 3 am even though your flight leaves at noon, with base notes of your parents never apologizing and a hint of green chilli.”
Yankee Candle’s goal is always to set the mood and create a sense of nostalgia. “Our goal with this collection was to evoke the feeling you get when it’s 6pm and your dad is watching a video on his phone at full volume,” reported Roberts. Customers will say the fragrances trigger the sounds of their mothers yelling “all day long tick-tick-tick on your phone, I don’t know who you are always talking to.”
