Tragedy: My Morning Alarm Went off While I Was in the Bathroom

It’s hard to talk about the feeling I felt when I heard the shrill sound of my alarm blaring from my bedroom while I was ass-deep, head-up on the toilet. It was a deep, foreboding feeling; the kind that burrows into your bones. I couldn’t get up – I hadn’t even wiped. I couldn’t call for help – everyone was asleep. 

Each ring of the phone rippled over my skin, settling in my chest, boiling my blood. My head began to pound. I began to pant. Was this the end?

I could have sworn I turned my alarm off when I blearily shuffled into the bathroom. 

But that’s just it, isn’t it? I hit snooze.
