“I’m actually doing you a favor”

Controversy arose today in San Francisco’s Chinatown as C-suite executive and uncle Roger Lim was spotted handing out business cards with QR codes to access NFTs instead of the traditional red envelopes this Lunar New Year.

Reports indicated that Lim was no stranger to controversy, having handed out Bitcoin, Dogecoin, and Tesla merchandise in previous years. When asked for comment, his relatives simply shook their heads and shrugged.

“I’m not sure why he thinks these strange internet things are more acceptable than actual money? I really would prefer that we not encourage our children to spend more time on the computer,” said one parent.

Others were more forthright. “Look, this stuff is useless. And seeing as I ‘hold on to the packets’ for my kids anyway, it’s even more useless, since I can’t use it to buy groceries.”

Lim, however, was effusive in his praise for his own innovation. “Someone needs to do the job of educating our young ones about the way of the future. I mean, they’re gonna grow up in a future where we have a colony on Mars, so what good is the American dollar going to be then?

“Besides, this is an investment into their future. This hentai-inspired picture of an octopus woman is totally unique, and it’ll secure their place in the elite of 2040. And I even threw in some holiday related ones that are a mashup of the tiger from Life of Pi and the cast of Crazy Rich Asians. They’ll thank me someday.”

After the traditional reunion dinner, Lim was spotted driving away in his Tesla Model X, licence plate EM69420.
