“You can call me names and spit on me, but when you take away my boba, that’s where I draw the line.”

If your local Stop Asian Hate Rally seems better attended this weekend, there might be a good reason why. A national boba shortage has affected hundreds of bubble tea shops and left ABGs across the country with nowhere to go.
“It just really hit close to home,” sobbed influencer Melissa Lee, who was making her first appearance at a protest. “I had heard Asian hate crimes had been rising over the last couple of weeks, but this really made it clear that truly none of us are safe.”
Melissa had previously posted a yellow square on her Instagram feed, but once she heard the news about the boba shortage, she leapt into action. “It really got my attention, and I realized I could do so much more, so I came to the park today to post a picture of me at the rally, to show the world how much I truly care. You really don’t know what you have until it’s gone.”
