The Most Critical Life Advice You Will Ever Hear From My Filipino Mom

“We’re all thinking it: Yes, you have to hand wash your underwear”

By: Lilly Moki

Hello everyone, my daughter does not want to wash her underwear by hand. This is not good. She tells me it’s ‘weird’ and ‘unnecessary’ and that her friends don’t do that. Crazy. Why are you American kids so wasteful? When I was your age we didn’t have a lot of clothes so we had to hand wash them every day. We barely had food. We barely had water. Barely had air. And you kids, breathe so much, FOR FREE! So I want to take the time to explain why it’s important to wash your underwear by hand. Get the stains out! Lilly has a lot of stains- she told me not to tell you guys that, she’s not the only Co-meed-ian in the family haha! – Lilly’s Mom

  1. Save water – Don’t leave the tap running at full pressure! In this economy!? You don’t shower but now you want to shower the plates!? Just for one or two dishes, don’t be lazy. I can’t believe these kids…Your hands hurt? It’s because of that damn phone. My hands hurt too from working so hard for all my life. You kids don’t know what hard work is. We used to save rain water in basins outside our home. Now I see kids jumping in puddles…Wasteful!
  1. Just keep one pair of underwear – Why do you need so many new pairs? You want to know what Victoria’s secret is? She only has one pair! It’s so expensive! Your butt is still cold. You know what I read on facebook, a girl lost her underwear in her private. See, this is why you just need one good pair and you can hand wash every night in the shower and dry for tomorrow! Save your money.
  1. Dry your clothes on the dining room chairs – Don’t use the dryer, just lay your wet clothes over every item of furniture in your house to air-dry so you can save electricity. When I was your age I hung my clothes outside on a line to dry every morning. We didn’t have dining room chairs. We didn’t have a dining room , or chairs. We ate squatting on the floor. Ungrateful American Children!
  1.  I came to America (for you!) – You think I came to America for me? No. I did not work three jobs while I was in secondary school and walked miles from the farm to my home in the village to feed the goats for me. It was for you! Yes! I knew you were going to be born before I came here and I said, I am going to live in Maryland, USA for you! Shame, I worked hard so you can come here and make Tik Toks in your room all day .

Hey guys, it’s Lilly again. Sorry my mom made herself angry and walked away by thinking of all the things that make her angry while typing this for you. If you want more helpful tips, reach out to her on Facebook, she may accidentally call you first but after that she won’t respond.
